Kennedy Brown lives and works out of a studio in Auckland. Born into a large and creative family as a fifth generation New Zealander he completed a Bachelor of Design at Auckland's Unitec in 2001 and has since been pursuing a career in furniture, object and homeware design. In search of greater learning and experience, Kennedy worked briefly as a shop fitting designer/maker before heading south in 2005 to join Cicada Studios, a furniture design and business incubator in Hawke's Bay. Here he established his business and developed his craft while cultivating ongoing relationships with like-minded artists and designers.

My inspiration lies within culture and culture lies at my doorstep. Through materials, process, function and form I endeavour to express my Pacific homeland, Aotearoa, New Zealand. Merging elements and ideas of old and new, traditional and modern, together with the application of machine and craft, I aim to create objects of originality, beauty and endurance for generations to come.
